Girls Night in With Kimberly

Planning a fun night in with your girlfriends and have no clue where to start? Below Kimberly has creative ideas that will make for epic celebrations of friendship and good times.

What Ever Happened To Laurnea'?

Who remembers Laurnea?  She had an album circa 1998 called Betta Listen.  It featured songs like "Can't Let Go," "Sun Don't Rain," and the following song, "Infatuation."  This is, by the way, one of my favorite songs.  Where has this talented, soulful singer been?

How do you feel about this song?  Have you ever been this infatuated by someone?

Beauty Makes Me Pout

Hello everyone!  As I stated here I decided to do a 3-Part Post series of my favorite fall products.  Since we've already covered my favorite blushes, let's get down to the lippies.

Part 2  of my "Beauty Makes Me..." 3-Part Series is "Beauty Makes Me Pout,"  which will be highlighting my current favorite lippies.  Click read more to check them out.

Beauty Makes Me "Blush"

Hey all!  For September and October I have quite a few of my  favorite beauty products to share with you guys.  Since I thought it was too many to share in one post, I decided to do a 3-Part Post series of my favorite fall products.

The beginning of my "Beauty Makes Me..." 3-Part Series is "Beauty Makes Me Blush,"  which will be highlighting my current favorite blushes.

These are my favorite blushes this season:

The first blush I'm sharing is Avon True Color Blush in Cranberry.  This is the perfect fall shade for me.
I love how rich the color is!

The second blush I'm sharing is NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon. This is one of my all-time favorite blushes. The color payoff is great, so you only  have to use a small amount.

The third blush is NARS Powder Blush in Exhibit A. NARS blushes are my favorite blushes because they are so pigmented. Again, a little goes a long way with this blush.  Please be careful with the application or you'll wind up looking like a clown!

The fourth blush I'm sharing is NARS Powder Blush in Taj Mahal.  This may be my absolute favorite blush, because it seems to bring out my skin's copper undertones.  Check out how I rocked it here.

The fifth blush is new to my collection.  It's Avon Smooth Minerals Blush in Perfect Plum.  This is another color that is perfect for fall.  This is slowly becoming one of my favorite blushes to wear for an evening look.

The final blush on the list is e.l.f.  Powder Blush in Fuchsia Fusion.  I cannot rave enough about this blush.  It only costs $3 and the color is so beautiful.  When I'm feeling feminine and flirty, this is my go-to blush.  The color is so pink and sparkly, one can't help but feel sweet and girly when wearing it.  I don't mind rocking this blush year round for a pick-me-up.

Do you own any of these blushes?  How do you feel about them?  And what are your current favorite blushes?  Also, if you would like to see swatches, let me know in the comments!

Stay tuned next week for more beauty faves!

Monday Dose of Diva: WOMANifesto

How many of you watched Black Girls Rock last night?  I was able to watch a segment of it and was very happy to see today's diva, Miss Jilly from Philly, perform the "Womanifesto" from her latest album, The Light of the Sun.

For years now, Jill Scott has been gracing us with her sultry voice, soulful songs, and recently, her powerful acting skills.   I remember first hearing her on the Roots singles "You Got Me" and "Complexity" wondering who the woman with the captivating voice was.  Now several hit singles ("A Long Walk," "Golden," and "Hate on Me" to name a few), albums, movies, a book and a baby later, we have the quintessential diva before us.

She makes me proud to be a woman, as she is not afraid nor ashamed to bear her sensual side.  She speaks proudly and with such an unapologetic authority, one can't help but take notice.  She embraces her womanly strength and femininity wholeheartedly, and that is why I admire her.

What is your favorite Jill Scott song?
Can you identify with her music?

"Take Off The Blues" Sunday

Alas, today was a laid-back day at home.  My family and I did nothing special (other than my light afternoon thrifting) and all was calm in Miss Dre's neck of the woods.  This may seem like a mundane situation to some of you, but for those who know me personally know we haven't had many peaceful days lately.
