Beauty | Fall Faves Tag

beauty favorites

Now that it's officially Fall in the Carolinas, I've done a bit of switching up my beauty routine. I've traded bright, vibrant hues of lipstick and polishes to darker, muted shades. I've pulled out skincare items that combat my fall/winter dryness as opposed to treating my skin's summer oiliness. And I've actually used up quite a few products before going out to splurge on new items for the seasonal change. While I was planning to post some of the products I've been grabbing for lately, I was given an extra push to post when my blogger boo Jay of Relaxed Thairapy tagged me to do a Fall Faves post. So without further adieu, read more about my current beauty favorites of the season after the jump!

the blushed nudes palette
Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette- Just when I thought I was in love with the Maybelline's original Nudes eyeshadow palette, I met this beauty. And it's been nothing but love every since. As with the other palette, these eyeshadows are of great quality with an awesome color payoff. You can come up with so many different looks and color combinations with this palette (though I'm partial to creating the perfect fall smoky eye). Overall, it's a nice palette to have with an even better price point- $7 from your local Walmart.

fall lipsticks
Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks in It Girl and Dare are really giving me my matte lip fix for the fall. While It Girl runs more on the pink side, Dare applies in a deep cranberry shade. Nonetheless, both are perfect shades for the season. And the best part? I scored them from my local Walgreens for about $3 each. I'll be sharing swatches of these lippies along with others in a later post, so hang tight!

african queen
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in African Queen is my favorite NYX gloss. I have repurchased this shade many times over. It's my absolute favorite color (pearlescent fuchsia), it has an empowering name, and the price point is good and low (like I like my glosses normally). This gloss doesn't feel heavy or sticky on my lips, but it still has a great color payoff. If you don't have this shade in your makeup bag, I suggest you go by Ulta and shell out that $5 to grab this one up.

foundation women of color
Black Opal True Color Stick Foundation in Truly Topaz- Every time I venture away from this foundation to try others, I always come back to this one. It was one of the first foundations I have ever purchased, so I feel like it will always be a staple for me. It gives great coverage, and with the help of a setting powder, doesn't transfer so much. It's a very affordable foundation that lasts a long time, especially since a little product goes a long way. And just about every drugstore/big box store around my way carries it. That's an all-around win for me!

matte lip gloss
LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Stunner definitely lives up to its name. Yes, the packaging is nice and sleek. The applicator is slim and easy to use. And in just one swipe, your lips are transformed to automatic Stunner status. If you are a fan of the ever popular MAC Matte Lipstick, I would say that this is a close dupe for a much lower price. I grabbed this beauty up from my local beauty supply store for less than $3.

facial toner
Simple Skincare Soothing Facial Toner has become my staple toner in a month's time, guys. I can't describe how fresh and clean my skin feels after I use it. With every toner I have tried in the past, I have had some horrible reaction or it completely dried my skin out. But not this one. It truly does soothe my skin--- there's no drying or tight feeling after use. And I love that it's 100% alcohol free. If you are looking for a great toner, I strongly suggest you give this one a try. Oh, and another incentive---I purchased it from Walmart for only $5!

cerumworx
CerumWORX Age Defying Skin Renewal Capsules- I received these capsules in my Hype Hair + Cocotique 2nd Anniversary Beauty Box back in September and could not wait to try them. And they did not disappoint! I used them on my face each morning for a week after cleansing and they left my skin feeling so soft and supple! As many times as I have been told not to touch my face over the years, I just could not help gliding my index finger along my jawline and across my cheeks after using them. Maybe I'll put this coupon to good use soon!

hyperpigmentation
Yes to Grapefruit Correct & Repair Rejuvenating Facial Wipes are some of the best facial wipes I've tried thus far. Not only do they do an awesome job of removing my makeup (yes, even the stubborn mascara), they're quite gentle on the skin. Not to mention the light scent of grapefruit is invigorating! And dig this---I would even go as far to say that since I've started using these facial wipes months ago, I've noticed significant improvement in my hyperpigmentation. These wipes boast that they "leave skin feeling renewed and radiant" and they definitely live up to the hype. I think I'm ready to try a couple of the other products from the Yes To Grapefruit line now!
