MUSIC | The Mood-Boosting Playlist

Everything in life feels a little bit better with some soundtrack music playing in the background. At least it feels that way for me. When I wake up in the morning, I want to put my music on. Before I get in the shower, I spend several minutes getting my shower playlist together. Even when I'm preparing food, reading books, or writing my blog posts, I absolutely must have some tunes playing ignorantly loud in the background. And it's been that way for as long as I can remember. Now when I worked in an office I shared with co-workers, I was respectful and wore headphones (most of the time). But now that I work from home and can play my music as loud as I want, I GO IN honey. Some songs just require a higher volume and frequency for optimal listening pleasure.

For example, I have a dope little playlist I like to queue up when I'm in a bit of a funk. You know, sometimes we have those days when everything feels like "blah." The slightest things bother you or get on your nerves, thus your side-eyeing and neck-rolling everyone you come in contact with. The ice-cream machine is broken again at McDonald's. The one friend who always calls you back hasn't returned any of your calls or text messages. Writer's block takes over your creative spidey-senses and nothing you scribble out on your notepad seems to make sense. Or maybe you just don't feel like being creative at all. You'd rather binge-watch This is Us so you can cry and be mad because neither Jack nor William are ever coming back. But then you realize there are such things as deadlines and showing up for life, so you gotta get up and get your mind right.

QUEUE THE "NATURAL HIGH: A MOOD BOOSTING" PLAYLIST:  For those days when you realize that ice cream you were gonna get to lick your wounds is not happening right now, so you're gonna have to get up and dance the "blah" feeling away. Click the image below to open the playlist up in a new window. And if you have others around you, please be courteous and make sure you have your headphones handy! Special shout-out to Moorea Seal and her #52ListsProject for inspiring me to share my mixtape in list form.

Note that some of the songs on my playlist may have explicit content. If that's not your thing, feel free to skip to the ones you like! Loving these Spotify playlists? Let me know in the comments if you want more here on the blog. And be sure to give me a follow if you're on Spotify, too. I love making mixtapes and sharing music with my good boos over there.
