HAUL + REVIEW | ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips

liquid lipstick
Lately, I've been on a quest to add more liquid lipsticks to my makeup arsenal. But with so many different cosmetic lines offering endless options of this on-trend lip product, I had no clue where to begin my search. After looking at so many captivating, high-intensity swatches of ColourPop lipsticks on women of varying complexions on social media for the longest, I decided to finally give them a try. Luckily, my try came around the time of a recent flash sale a couple of weeks ago, which offered 20% off select items for 24 hours. How could I not?

Shopping for a couple of lipsticks slowly turned into a haul. The price for many of the lippies I had my eye on were reduced from $6 to $4.80, so I decided to splurge just a little. I grabbed up three Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks and three Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks. Below are the satin lippies I purchased in the order they are pictured above-- StingRAYE, Beeper and Chi.

StingRAYE is described as a cool-toned mauve brown. I was most excited about purchasing this lippie because it's from the ColourPop collaboration with one of my favorite beauty vloggers, Raye Boyce (aka ItsMyRayeRaye). And though Raye's collaboration with ColourPop is no more, I'm glad to have gotten this baby before it was discontinued. This beautiful mauve brown shade is perfect for everyday wear and could easily be worn without a lip liner.

liquid lipstick for women of color

Beeper is a is a warm, mid-tone taupe. And while I love this shade, I feel that I might need to wear a lip liner with it in the future. If you're looking for a rosy, "lips-only-better" shade from the bunch, you would definitely love this one.

Chi is a is a cool tone nude-beige from ColourPop's collaboration with model/actress Karrueche Tran. This lipstick is a lot lighter than I expected, so I'm certain I will be wearing a lip liner with it in the future. But to show you the true pigmentation of the lipstick on me, I decided not to wear Chi with a liner.

All in all, I'm a big fan of ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. They come in a variety of shades and at the price of $6 each, you could really rack up without breaking the bank. The formula for each of these matte liquid lipsticks has a smooth consistency, needing only a swipe or two to achieve a full, opaque application.

A few things to take note of if you are new to ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks are that 1) they dry pretty quickly when applying and 2) you would want to make it easy on yourself by using a makeup remover to take them off. As with most matte and satin lipstick formulas, one must make sure to exfoliate and prime lips before applying. Using lip balm or gloss prior to applying, however, may shorten your wear time. And because these matte lipsticks feel glossy when applying but dry matte very quickly, reapplying can be a pain. Fortunately, these highly-pigmented babies last for hours on end though!
