HAUL + REVIEW | ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips

liquid lipstick

If you follow me on Instagram or read my last blog post, you know I am late to the ColourPop party. Nonetheless, I got my first little taste of the ColourPop life when I received my recent haul in the mail a couple of weeks ago. In this haul, I purchased three Ultra Matte Lips and three Ultra Satin Lips. Overall, I have been pleased with my haul and could not wait to share the details with you guys. Below are the satin lippies I purchased in the order they are pictured above: Echo Park, Mess Around and Frick 'n Frack.

Echo Park is described as a warm, peachy nude. Normally I wouldn't wear a color this light or warm without a lip liner. But for the sake of the swatch, I didn't wear a lip liner with any of these lippies. Though it doesn't look how I would imagined from looking at the color in the tube, I am still gonna pair it with one of my favorite liners and continue to rock it!

Mess Around is among the favorites of my collective haul. It is described as a mid-tone grey beige that could easily translate as a nude or neutral for my fellow women of color. I have worn this lipstick multiple times since receiving it and I can imagine it will get much more play in the Fall.

Last but not least is the beloved Frick 'n Frack. This lippie is a rosy terracotta that I am absolutely in love with. It can definitely be worn with or without a liner, though I don't use one. And because I love how the color compliments my skin tone, I feel this is a great everyday wear lippie for any occasion.

Ladies, it's safe to say I'm loving the ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks. ColourPop offers an array of satin liquid lipsticks--currently 28 shades to be exact. As with the ultra matte lips, the formula for the satin lips only requires a swipe or two to achieve a full, opaque application. And with the exception of Echo Park, these lipsticks apply glossy but dry down to a semi-matte finish within a few hours of wear. See how Mess Around and Frick 'n Frack don't make my lips appear all dry and cracked? They even appear more glossier than Echo Park in photographs.

The main differences I've noticed between the Ultra Matte Lips and the Ultra Satin Lips are of course related to texture. While the Ultra Matte Lips aren't uncomfortable to wear, the Ultra Satin Lips formula isn't as drying over time. But because of this, the Ultra Satin Lips tend to transfer a bit more than the Ultra Mattes. But at $6 a pop, none of these things bother me about either of these lippies. While I prefer the Ultra Satin Lips, I know I'll be purchasing more of both in the future!
