♥ Sisterhood Tag ♥

Hey loves! I have a cool tag post for you guys today. My blogger boo Galaxia tagged me a while back for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award and I must say I am honored! For the tag, Galaxia asked some really fun questions, so I will be answering them all below for you. Here goes!

1. What’s a little luxury that you treat yourself to after a long day? A nice spa day would be an ideal treat right about now. You just don't know how much I crave a massage and a pedicure! But in the meantime, I'll do the usual and have my own DIY spa situation at home :) I always enjoy spending a few quiet moments by myself, for myself. It could be enjoying a nice warm bubble bath with my favorite scented bath bombs while a 90's slow jam playlist repeats in the background. Or I will arrange a nice cheese tray for one with a glass of wine and catch up on my favorite shows while the little ones are sleeping. It might not sound very luxurious to some, but any uninterrupted time to myself in which I can totally relax is a luxury for me. How many of you long for the days that you could use the bathroom in peace without someone yelling for you or trying to break into the bathroom to get you? LOL. Uninterrupted bathroom time even sounds like a luxury these days.

2. How do you feel about your siblings, or how do you feel about being an only child? I love each and every one of my siblings. I have five siblings total. I have two older brothers, but I'm my mom's oldest kid. I have a slight complex about being her oldest though, as I always joke that I am the starter kid lol. But all jokes aside, I love each one of them and find it pretty awesome that though we all have very distinct personalities, we can come together and love on each other in our own little way.

3. Who’s your current celebrity crush? I know that a lot of married women say they don't have a celebrity crush, but for the sake of the question I will be honest with you guys and admit that I have a couple. I promise you it's okay. My husband has a celebrity crush or two as well lol. Since I started watching kdrama last year, I have become a huge fan of Lee Min Ho. This could possibly be because I've seen every drama he's starred in and I am thinking of re-watching Personal Taste. He seems like such a sweetheart!

And for y'all that KNOW ME, I'm gonna sit this photo right here. Lol.

4. If you’re single, is there someone you’re wishing would ask you out? If you’re taken, how did you and that person decide to be in a relationship (describe the proposal, etc)? My husband and I met at a football game over a decade ago and decided to make our relationship official during Superbowl weekend a few months after. Fast forward to the present day and we're still watching football games together--well I'm still trying to get his attention while he's yelling at the TV screen. I never realized football had such a profound effect on our relationship. Lol.

5. What’s your favorite nail polish shade to wear? Pink! Fusion Pink by Sinful Colors is currently my favorite pink polish.

6. Show us a piece of jewelry you would love to have. I'm currently on the prowl for a pair of pearl ear jackets. They seem like the perfect mix of elegant, yet edgy.

7. What kind of cell phone do you have? I'm probably the only person in the world (other than my husband) that doesn't have an iPhone. I don't even remember the name of my phone, but I know HTC makes it and I got it for free! #TeamAndroid over here, honey :)

8. Which TV show or movie should I watch when I have the chance? I know you are a Netflix/Hulu/YouTube lover like myself Galaxia, so I'm gonna list ALL of the shows and movies I've watched recently or I am currently watching.

The Mindy Project
Friday Night Lights | Pretty Little Liars |The Carrie Diaries
Awkward. | Revenge | Black-ish
Gotham | HTGAWM
The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete
Safe Haven

9. What book would you recommend I read before 2014 is over? You must read #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso if you haven't already. It's a great read! And if you have Nook or Kindle, shoot me an e-mail. I have a must-read list and to-read list a mile long that I'd love to share with you!

10. Have you ever experienced blatant racism or discrimination? I wouldn't say I have experienced blatant racism. But growing up in a southern rural area has presented quite a few opportunities to witness a level of ignorance some people have for those who aren't just like them. Though we might not always like to discuss racism or discrimination publicly, I do believe racism still exists. But I've also been witness to a loving-kindness in others that still exists. My hope is that if we all practiced more love and more kindness, we can begin to obliterate negativity like I have experienced so our children won't have to.

Thanks again for tagging me, Galaxia! I hope you all enjoyed reading my answers! Now I'd like to ask all of you guys-- who are your celebrity crushes? Do you have any book recommendations for me? What TV shows are you currently watching? And how often do you "treat" yourself? I'd love to hear all of your answers in the comments :)

The Christmas Tag (Repost)

My beautiful blogger friend Mylah, of MylahSai.com tagged me in a fun Christmas post she was also tagged in last week.  Reading her post gave me a little insight on her Christmas likes and memories.  I'm so glad she tagged me so that I am able to spread the fun and holiday cheer to you guys.  So here goes!

What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love Silent Night.  When sang correctly, it can give the coldest heart the shivers of a warm spirit.  And there's nothing in this world like the Temptations version of it.

Except this: Coming very close to the Temptations rendition of this song would be the version my church's Adult Choir has sang for years.  Man, when Mr. Smith and Mr. Thomas would sing in those heavy baritones, it would stir everyone's souls! Even the meanies in the congregation would smile and clap during this song! And I loved it.  Apparently my brothers did too, because they still mock them lol. Rest in Peace, Mr. Thomas.

What is your favorite Christmas Treat?
My Oreo Cheesecake or Oreo Dirt Pie.  (Chocolate, YUM!)  You know the spirit of Christmas has truly overwhelmed me if I took the time to load a dessert with all that delectable goodness and let it sit in the fridge long enough to chill for other people, lol. Just kidding! Sorta.

What is your favorite childhood Christmas memory?
My last Christmas with my father three four Christmases ago trumps any holiday memory I had as a child.  My husband, children, father, and myself were each present at my grandmother's house--something that had never happened before and will never happen again.  I can still remember the smile my father had on his face as he embraced my children.  Tears welled in my eyes as I saw a strong resemblance of him in my son's face.  I can't remember one gift I gave or received, can't remember a thing I ate, or any in depth conversations I shared with anyone else that day.  All that stands out was spending time with my father and my paternal relatives.  Just being present in those moments made that Christmas one of the best and most memorable days of my life.

What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given?
I'm not sure.  I do think the best gifts I've given overall are the ones I personalize or made myself.  Either those or books.  I love to leave a lasting impression or do something memorable!

Do you make or buy keepsake ornaments for your family every year?
No, I never really gave buying keepsake ornaments much thought.  The little ones always make ornaments at school, so I guess those would be what our family considers keepsakes.  My mother kept the handmade ornaments my siblings and I made for years (sadly she no longer has them) so I think that's where I got that from.

Would you rather be one of Santa’s elves or a reindeer?
Is this a trick question? I don't know if I would be athletic enough to be a reindeer-- what with flying over rooftops and moving all over the world in one night.  And elves put in a lot of work too, work Mylah considers slave labor lol.  So I would try to fade in the background and not get picked to be on either team (like I did with kickball in elementary school haha).

Gift wrap or gift bags?
Gift bags for sure. They're much easier to use and I suck at wrapping gifts.  You should see all the extra paper I waste trying to cut here and there.  But if it's pretty Hello Kitty gift wrap or the Rankin/Bass Christmas cartoon wrap (think Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer), I will go for wrap.  And make J wrap everything lol.

Do you own a Santa hat?
I do, thanks to my bestie.  She was trying to put someone in the holiday spirit last year, so to speak.  Now, I have to decide exactly how I want to use it again this year ;-)

Do you prefer Black Friday, or Day-After-Christmas sales?
Black Friday is EVIL! Nah, just kidding. I'm just not a fan of crowds, so I rarely partake in Black Friday shopping.  But Day-After-Christmas shopping is fun, especially with those shiny new gift cards I'll receive in tow.  I always look forward to the Bath and Body Works sale, so I usually reserve that gift card for that time.

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot chocolate. I can sip on that with the little ones with no problem.  We enjoy watching holiday cartoons with hot chocolate and marshmellows. I never did really get with egg nog.  I guess it's a bit of an acquired taste that I haven't acquired yet.

What was your favorite childhood Christmas gift?
My favorite childhood Christmas gift was Teddy Ruxpin, hands down! He was my best friend that winter!  He read to me whenever I wanted!  But I think my little brother was lowkey jealous that Teddy Ruxpin was reading to me all the time, because he ripped his mouth off like it was nothing.  Imagine how scary Teddy started looking with no mouth and a mechanical nose that moves erratically as he recited his stories.  It really put a damper on our friendship to say the least. Ha!

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
When I was about 7 or 8, I decided to quietly wait up for Santa in my bed.  Apparently the adults thought all closed eyes were sleeping because I heard my aunt tell my parents to get the bikes out of the trunk.  I did the math.  Thanks auntie!

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
I TAG ALL OF YOU READING TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS FUN CHRISTMAS TAG.
IF YOU DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE SHARE YOUR LINK IN THE COMMENTS,
AS I WOULD LOVE TO READ THEM ALL!

Thought Bubbles Thursday With Tia: Vol. I

I still can't believe that I am a MOTHER OF THREE. That's so crazy to me. It's finally starting to set in though.

Is it bad that I'm having a hard time recalling birth dates and things when the doctors ask me?  Now I know how my mother felt with all those May babies back then.

Why does everyone keep giving me unsolicited baby advice? Being that this is the third time around, I think I might be certified in knowing my babies by now. Just maybe.

I'm working hard on not letting every emotion I feel show on my face-- especially in public. I don't think it's working out too well for me though.  Maybe I should practice smiling in the mirror (insert silly Keke Wyatt type face here lol).

I'm so disappointed that my date night with hubby this weekend has been cancelled. Like really.  I was so looking forward to watching Chris Hemsworth swing that hammer around in a dark theater and everything. Oh and of course, spending time with my beloved :-)

Sometimes I think I need more friends who are SAHMs.  No one understands me.

It feels like my laundry is the pile that never ends this week.

I probably should be washing dishes instead of typing these thoughts right now.

Man, eff those dishes right now.

What was I thinking drawing my brows on for the last 14 years? I'm smh for real looking at my old high school pictures.  Thank God for YouTube.

When I reach my hair goals, I'm so getting an auburn rinse!

Why am I getting sucked into LHHNY? I know it has to be scripted!  There's no way Peter Gunz is really crazy enough to be married to the side chick and living with the main girl.

The fact that I used to rock to "Uptown Baby" is really telling my age. I bet the kids watching LHHNY don't even know that song. Ha!

Speaking of getting older, I've finally made a 30 by 30 list. It features 30 cool things I want to do before June 2015. I'm gonna share it here on the blog soon.

It's almost Scandal time! Thank God Jj is sleep.  This is the highlight of my day, ladies and gentlemen. Can you believe Khandi Alexander's gonna be playing Liv's mom?

I'm doing this link up with Tia of The Chic SAHM. Stop by her blog, say what's up, and tell her I sent ya!
The Chic Stay at Home Mom

CURRENTLY: 10.28.13

CURRENTLY
(inspired by Chymere)

In Lust With: The smell of fresh flowers, peppermint, and wild berry cheesecake in the morning. I have these wild berry cheesecake wax bars that I buy every time I'm in Walmart so that I never run out of the scent and so my home always smells like them.  The scent combined with fresh flowers (usually daisies or roses) and the peppermint oil I use in the mornings (to open up my nasal passages) is like heaven.  It truly smells like home around here (and not dirty diapers lol).

In Love With: The TV show New Girl.  I don't know why I didn't start watching it when it first aired, but I should have.  Thanks to Netflix, I was able to catch up with ease, though. Jessica Day is so fun to watch, as she is always so upbeat and quirky.  I swear she makes up a song for everything lol.  Her and Nick make the cutest couple I've seen on TV in a while.

Missing: Those Friday and Saturday night chats I used to have with my friends + J's friends back at our first spot.  Man, listen--- we used to talk about some of everything! We would fire up the grill, play cards, watch movies, and have all kinds of male versus female debates.  Now that I look back on it, I really do miss the closeness we all shared and the lessons I learned from those talks.  We need to bring those days back!

Can't Live Without: The goodness that is those Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Now that there is no more baby in-utero, I feel like I can indulge in cookies to my heart's content (not really, but you get the idea). I keep a couple of packs stashed in the cabinets around here in case of an emergency.

Obsessing over:  Capturing memories of everything.  With Jj growing like a weed and changing everyday, I find myself taking so many random shots of him.  I take pictures of his smile, his laugh, and even his stank face (yes, he has one already). I record him cooing all the time.  And not only am I capturing shots of his milestones, I'm taking pictures of everything everyone is doing around here.  I'm snapping pics of Gab and Core riding their bikes and playing kickball in the yard (thank God for the yard!) because they seem to be having so much fun.  It's like lately I don't want to miss a beat.  I guess it's because I'm finally realizing that they won't be this small for long.  Oh, and I try to take pics of my husband J cooking, but he isn't having it!

Working On: Holiday plans. I'm not sure if it's too early to get started on my planning, but I'm too excited not to! I've already planned my Thanksgiving menu, my shopping lists for Christmas, and even a few things for mom's Tree Trimming party this year.  I'm still debating on having a NYE party at the end of the year, but I have a couple of things in mind-- just in case.

Reading: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.  In fact, my beautiful blogger buddy Daja has a book club hosted by her blog, No Boiz Allowed.  In this book club, all participants will be reading The Happiness Project starting on Friday, November 1st.  For more information, click the link here!  If you're interested in reading The Happiness Project along with us, leave a comment!

Listening To: I've had Nothing Was the Same by Drake, The Electric Lady by Janelle Monae, Love & War by Tamar Braxton, and Three Kings by TGT in heavy rotation for the last month. Seems like I've been listening to "Wu Tang Forever" by Drake and "Bad Things" by Cults (thanks J. Cole) on repeat these last few days.

Favorite Visual: The leaves falling from the trees. I'm too hype about finally having trees :D  And what better time to enjoy the scenery than the fall?

Favorite Sound:  The falling rain.  Though I tend to complain a lot when it rains, the rainfall at night is quite relaxing.  Being nestled up in the dark listening to the raindrops falling is love!  It calms me and the little one down into the greatest of slumbers!

Over the Moon About: My approaching weekend getaway with hubby!  It's been too long since we've spent time together minus the children, especially since the little one arrived.  And now that I'm back to my old self again (you know, without 9 pounds of baby resting in my midsection lol) there's no telling what I may do the the poor man when we're alone.  Ok, that may be TMI.  But it is what it is. Get it how you live :D

CURRENTLY...

Obsessing Over: Making my new home a pretty place to live in. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is official. I have moved, but not too far away from where I was before.  This time I'm just a little closer to our families and my best girl ;-) In fact, she's been helping me make everything pretty around here so for that I am thankful.  I'm just hoping that all of this excitement about beautifying things around here isn't just NESTING in disguise.  Either way, I'm packing my hospital bag just in case.

Working On: Writing in my spare time and trying to document everything.  I didn't start a pregnancy journal or anything when I found out I was pregnant, but I did start documenting my feelings and thoughts concerning the goals and plans I created for 2013.  I hope to share some of these thoughts with you guys soon, so stay tuned!

Thinking About: How I should get my hair styled next. I'm looking for something cute and low-maintenance to get me through the next month or two.  Do any of you guys have any thoughts or ideas to share?  I need some hair inspiration!

Listening To:  Lots of praise & worship music lately.  Nothing makes me feel better than waking up in the mornings listening to Tasha Cobb's "Break Every Chain," Kierra Sheard's "Indescribable," and William McDowell's "Closer (Wrap Me In Your Arms)."  Listening to these songs among others helps me focus and center myself.  With all of the lifestyle changes I'm going through lately, I feel like God is right here with me taking care of everything in His perfect timing as I listen to these songs and lean on His word.

Anticipating: The Baby Shower.  At first, I was apprehensive about having a baby shower, because I'm on baby #3, but it has been 7 years since I've had a newborn and I didn't have any baby stuff in the house prior to learning I was pregnant with JJ. And the fact that my mommy is throwing it for me and it's gonna be a small gathering of family and closest friends, I feel great about it. There's nothing like mixing it up on a good occasion with those you love the most!

Drinking:  Lots of water.  My doctor forbade me to drink my beloved sweet tea, I had to give up coffee several months ago, and now they're saying I can't even have fruit juice. It's not like I'm getting any extra calories from drinking "the wrong things" because I haven't gained hardly any weight this whole pregnancy. It's probably because my baby is always showing off and showing his athletic side each time I go to the doctor and they think I'm doing something to make him hyper lol.  Now where was I? Oh yes, drinking water. *side eye*

PREGGO UPDATE- 33 WEEKS

*Here's a few pregnancy questions I saw on my girl Brook's site Urbanscenes and decided to answer*

How far along: 33 weeks-- 5 more until I'm full term!

Total weight gain: Hardly any.  Can you believe I've only gained about 9 lbs? Word of advice-- be careful what you ask for!

Maternity clothes: I've been wearing my regular shirts or my honey's shirts paired with maternity pants.

Stretch marks: I have the same ones I've had for the last 8 years, plus a few extra stripes around the midsection. I feel like a warrior! NOT!

Sleep: I feel like I'm sleeping on the baby's schedule already.  At this rate, I'm getting a full four hours of sleep before I'm interrupted by kicking or nature calling lol.

Best moment of this week: It's still a bit early in the week to say.  But so far, I will say being able to sleep in the same bed with my honey this weekend was the greatest.  It doesn't happen most nights, so I was excited about that.

Miss anything: Sleeping on my stomach.  Having a stronger bladder. Having the energy and balance to run after my little ones.

Movement: He is always moving! But I can tell a slight difference in his movements from last week. It feels like he's actually taking longer naps in the daytime. Now the night is another story!

Food cravings: I haven't really had any severe cravings. I've been sick for most of this pregnancy, so just being able to eat solid food with no problems is enough for me. I do, however, have a tendency to long for the things I can't have (like sushi and sweet tea, as I mention ALL THE TIME).

Labor signs: I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions (or as honey calls them, Tamar Braxton contractions--lol don't ask me why) these last couple of days, but nothing to write home about.

Wedding rings on or off: On. I don't have any swelling at all, so there's no need to take them off :-)

Happy or moody most of the time: It's hard to say. I think I'm mild-mannered and content for the most part. But when I get hot or hungry I turn into the diva from the Snickers Bar commercials. And I've been very sensitive this whole pregnancy.  Everything makes me tear up!

WHAT'S CURRENTLY GOING ON WITH YOU?

Currently: 04.28.13

CURRENTLY
(inspired by Chymere Californian)

In Lust With:  Ice Cream.  Rainbow Vanilla Ice Cream from a specific little store back home to be exact.  If I'm not making a beeline for that store when I visit, I'm sending someone to the store to get me some.  I crave it all the time! I'm also in deep lust with this Cake Batter Ice Cream Double Butter Body Cream  I got from here last week.  My dry, hormonal skin is in awe.

In Love With: ABC's Once Upon a Time. Have you seen that show? I just love all the twists and turns these people go through in the town of Storybrooke and how each of them have fairy tale alter-egos (or separate lives, from a different time and place). Each Sunday night I find myself tuned in to see whose backstory will be told next.  Between it, Revenge, and Scandal, ABC keeps me glued to the screen on Sunday and Thursday nights (when they aren't showing re-runs).

Obsessing over:  Moving.  Should I stay? Should I go? I don't know. I'm so indecisive about things here lately that thoughts of moving are becoming really overwhelming.  As much as I've grown to love my city, I think I might have to move on.  Lord, please order my steps.

Working On: Organizing everything.  I'm trying to find a designated place for everything, for everyone.  I thought I did a great job of this just a few short months ago, but my children have shown me otherwise lol. I am striving to create a more simplified life for the four five of us, so that begins with simplifying my home.  NOTE: This is not an easy feat when you and your husband are both pack-rats. Eek!

Favorite Words: Glowing, Happy, and Beautiful.  Most days, I don't feel like the third word.  But with reassurance from my loving and supportive husband, I can feel all three surge from the inside out.

Favorite Visual:  The animation in Wreck-It-Ralph.  Ok, don't laugh! I think I've grown so fascinated with the visual aesthetic of this movie partly because my children love watching it (meaning I watch a lot of it whether I choose to or not).  But I confess that I'm probably most drawn to it because it makes me feel so nostalgic. It reminds me of how obsessed I used to be with videogames when I was a young child (while a part of me still is!).  I love how bright and vivid the colors are, how strikingly HD certain game characters are and how adorable Vanellopi Von Schweets is.  If you haven't seen it yet, check it out.  It's definitely worth watching.

Favorite Sound:  Baby J's heartbeat.  I fell in love the first time I heard it, as it gave me proof that there was actually life moving around and thriving inside of me.  Hearing it for a second time yesterday gave me assurance that everything was gonna be okay with him

Over the Moon About: One of my besties flying out to NC to visit me for my birthday next month. I'm so excited, I can hardly contain myself!

Thinking Of: Celebrating life more often.  With the recent loss of a loved one and all of the lifestyle changes I've recently experienced, I feel that I don't celebrate life enough.  Sometimes, it takes a wedding or a funeral for my family, friends, and loved ones to get together and it sucks that it has to be that way. I know we all get a little busy with life and attending to our own affairs, but I want to be more involved in their lives.  I have to make a greater effort, whether others do or not.  There's nothing like giving folks flowers while they are still around to smell them.

Dreaming Of: What Baby J will be like.  Will he look like me or will he look like his daddy?  Will he have my temperament?  Will he be like his big brother J? Will he cry a lot or will he be quiet and mild-mannered like my daughter was as a baby? Will he steal my heart as quickly as my other two loves have? I think about him all the time and wonder how his presence will shape and change my world.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY UP TO?
